 The Challenge:

Parametrize the injection press in such a way so as not to alter the quality of the decorated film in the cavity and control shrinkage after molding. Keep the interior of the mold and the work area very clean.

In-Mold Decoration (IMD) is a process of overmolding on decorated thermoplastic film or an appliqué with an overlay of melted thermoplastic material. Once the component has been ejected from the mold, the graphics cannot be removed as the cooled component and film now form a single unit.

Plastiques Moore can help you develop and implement all your IMD projects. In order to ensure top quality components, we partner with expert suppliers specializing in decorative labels. Our “turnkey” approach covers everything from tooling and serial production to packaging.

In choosing Plastiques Moore for your IMD projects, you can count on a trustworthy and thorough team made up of seasoned and well-equipped technical experts.

Enjoy the numerous benefits of “In-Mold Decoration” (IMD):

  • Produce durable, long-lasting graphics
  • Add back lighting behind a text or logo in one operation
  • Add button controls (raised or flat) when shaping
  • Create different designs without costly re-tooling
  • Create a perception of depth, notably by positioning the label on the second surface of a transparent component
  • Eliminate the tactility of conventional labels on parts surfaces
  • Eliminate secondary painting and masking operations
  • Inject regrind under the decorative film for more cost-effective production that is still pleasing to the eye
  • Add different textures and colors to the same part with virtual photo-quality results

In-Mold Decoration (IMD) is a value-added solution for your products!
